Week 2
The Wavier Wire Homerun challenge is simple. Pick three players every week that are owned by less than 20% of fantasy owners and see if your players hit more home runs than your competitors. In April, our own Herman Obando took home the prize by riding a hot month from Jonny Gomes. May appears to have been a quiet month so far for home runs from the overlooked members of the wavier wire so it ight take more time to separate the leaders from the pack.
Homers and Braun of the Dead both racked up three points in week two but both teams were saddled with goose eggs in week one. Big Bats and Catch Scratch Weaver have been consistent with two double point weeks. The Bats have kept the same three players every week while Cat Scratch has had a rotating door at the first two positions. No team got the benefit of Ramon Hernandez‘s big week but lots of top teams are expecting big things from Hideki Matsui this week, five of the top twenty five teams selected him. Cody Ross and Michael Brantley are also poplular as a result of their hot bats recently.
What about factors other than the actual players? So far this year flyballs have been soaring out of Chase field at a record pace. No doubt that Creepy Crawford‘s chose Juan Miranda knowing that the Diamondbacks are playing seven games at home this week. Where might other ideas have come from? Our inseason projection system code named HARVEY recommends choosing Ryan Ludwick, Russell Branyan, and Danny Espinosa.
